US Constitution and the Declaration of Independence

For the past few weeks we've been reading the US Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. We have looked at how these documents were formed, and how they have changed over the last 200+ years. For your final essay I would like you to respond to one of the following prompts in at least 2,300 words.

Note: I had originally planned an extensive and research heavy final paper for your final. However, due to the changes in instruction, we will not have the in-class time to do the work I had planned. That being said, I will be posting some instructional videos on how to conduct online research in the near future. Watch these, and do not hesitate to email me any questions you might have. Or, stop by my virtual office hours using the ConferZoom link in Canvas.

I’ve also had to change the point value for your final essay to reflect these changes as well. It is now worth 350 points.

Prompts

Pick one thing about the U.S. Constitution including its amendments that you think should be changed. What modifications would you make? Explain your reasons for making this change.
Should individual states have more or less power compared to the federal government when implementing laws dealing with topics such as the legalization of marijuana (Links to an external site.)and abortion (Links to an external site.)?
Outline a program that would get more people to vote in presidential elections or local elections.
Explain how executive orders have been used by presidents throughout the history of the U.S. What is the number of executive orders issued by the current president?
Do you think that the federal government has enough, too much or just the right amount of power? Defend your answer.
