Hip Hop music has always been a reflection of the times. Artists have used their voices and music to address various issues that have affected their community. These issues range from poverty, police brutality, gang violence, censorship, and racism to name a few.
For this assignment, you will select a rap album or artists like Kendrick Lamar, N.W.A., Salt N Pepa, David Banner, Rapsody, Queen Latifah, or Public Enemy and research the impact their music and lyrics had on the Hip-Hop community.You will analyze how their songs were used to express social protest and political oppression during various times in the 21st century.
