Dissertation Proposal

Dissertation Proposal

Dissertation topic
I am more interested in researching topics related to brand loyalty and sportswear such as the factors that affect sportswear brand loyalty. And I want to use a questionnaire to collect data through an online survey.
Therefore, your research theme should be related to brand loyalty and sportswear(But if you have a better research topic or a more valuable research topic, we can discuss whether to adopt it). A very important requirement is that the research topic needs to fill the gaps in the existing relevant literature, or expand the research topic based on the existing literature, or use/design a different research methodology(research model) to carry out the research.
Introduction
The introduction should state your central research question and give background on the subject i.e. what do we already know about the topic based on existing literature/research and how will your dissertation advance existing work. You should also justify right from the beginning why your proposed dissertation topic is worth exploring further. Justify with logical argumentation, with relevant data and/or relevant literature.
Literature Review
Discuss how your dissertation connects to previous academic studies and books. Don’t forget to include your analysis of their value to your work. Make sure you discuss the gap in the literature review that your dissertation is going to address. Make sure you use academically credible sources (not all material online is credible, e.g. Wikipedia is not an academically credible source, various dissertations posted online are not necessarily academically credible).
You can identify academically credible sources that are relevant to the field of marketing and consumer behaviour from the following list of the journals.
l  Journal of Consumer Research
l  Journal of Consumer Psychology
l  Consumption, Markets & Culture
l  Journal of Consumer Behavior
l  European Journal of Marketing
l  Journal of Marketing Management
l  Journal of Business Research
l  ACR Proceedings
With the appropriate keyword search depending on your dissertation topic, you can locate relevant academic papers from this list of journals. In doing so use Google scholar https://scholar.google.co.uk/
Methodology
This section will break down what sources you aim to use for your research, and what sort of data you will collect from it, either quantitative or qualitative. Please note that due to the COVID-19 situation only online primary data (e.g. online interviews and online surveys) should be collected or secondary data/sources should be used. Don’t forget that we collect primary data only if secondary data do not exist. You may also want to include discussion on how you will analyse the data you gather and what if any bias there may be in your chosen methods. Try to explain also why your chosen approaches to gathering data are more appropriate to your research than others.

FP Research

For your FP Final Project, you will gather all your writings into one document that integrates the separate parts you worked on over the semester.

Here is the order you should follow in this long essay:

Introduction
In 100-150 words, prepare your reader for what they're about to read. Detail the structure you will follow, and summarize your findings. For example:
The decade comprised between 1900 and 1910 was characterized by the optimism of the prosperity following the Industrial Revolution. The British Empire also opened the doors of Asia, and with it an appetite for Exoticism and novelty that found its way into fashion.

For our survey of the 1900s and its fashion, we will first look at salient historical and cultural events such as the Colonization, the birth of Feminism, and the Great Universal Exhibitions ushered changes in fashion, particularly in women fashion. We will then take a look at the mood and the values of the time, and how they translated in fashion. This will take us to an important event in the History Fashion, namely the rise of ‘fashion designers’ as we understand them today. We will take a close look at Paul Poiret, a Parisian who successfully captured the zeitgeist and catered to the aspirations of their clientele by offering his customers theatrical and exotic fashions. As we will see, Poiret channeled historical and international inspirations, such as an imagined Turkey and China.

Typically, an introduction does not present quotes from outside sources.

FP Research your 20th Century Decade
Write a short introductory sentence before copy-pasting your previous assignment. If your instructor pointed areas that needed further work, now would be a good time to patch things up. You SHOULD insert a title before this section to tell your reader that your introduction is complete and they are now starting the 'meat' of the research. You should also add a short conclusive sentence before moving to the next section. Here are examples of a title, an introductory sentence, and a conclusive sentence for a section:

1900s: The apparent calm before the storm
Under a smooth veneer of gentile prosperity, the period often called "The Long Edwardian Summer" was merely putting a straight face on a series important historical, cultural, and societal changes.
[Copy-Paste your FP Research your 20th Century Decade here]
As we can see, a closer look at this peaceful moment in history had its share of upheavals and transformations.

If you are quoting from outside sources (which I hope you are!), make sure to quote them in your footnotes!

FP Values in Fashion
Again, you will already have made some progress on this over the semester, and you might have to brush up a few facts here and there to tidy up your report as a coherent paper. Remember that you are trying to tell your reader how the historical circumstances dictated what people wore. A 'value' can be the rise of the automobile, the revolt against a corrupt government, or something as trivial as people starting to go to the gym! Once again, create a title for this section, an introductory sentence, and a conclusive sentence. If you are quoting from outside sources (which I hope you are!), make sure to quote them in your footnotes!

FP Profile Key Designer
This section will present your Key Designer. If you can, try and reinforce the coherence of your paper by exposing how the historical events you mentioned in your first section impacted your designer. Remember to insert pictures of your designer's work and a head shot (if available). Once again, create a title for this section, an introductory sentence, and a conclusive sentence. If you are quoting from outside sources (which I hope you are!), make sure to quote them in your footnotes.

FP Historical Influence
In there, you should tell us how fashion history always inspires contemporary fashion, and how your Key Designer is no exception. If you must demonstrate a direct historical influence in a collection that you did NOT mention in your Key Designer Profile, then make sure to include pictures of both the historical influence and the collection. Once again, create a title for this section, an introductory sentence, and a conclusive sentence. If you are quoting from outside sources (which I hope you are!), make sure to quote them in your footnotes.

Conclusion
Another 100 words to summarize your findings, connecting your decade historical events and values, with its fashion and your iconic designer(s). A title is optional and most conclusions do not contain outside sources or quotes since you are summarizing your own analysis.

FP Bibliography
Remember to update your bibliography if you found any new sources while working on this essay!
While this essay consists of parts that you worked on over the semester, it will be longer and more coherent than a simple collection of copy-pasted bits. Give yourself at least a week to work on this, and make sure to have proof-readers to help you: you might miss the forest for the trees!

This essay should also addresses any feedback you received from your instructor over the semester, from spelling mistakes to areas that need further research to sources that need quotation. Remember that this essay is worth 10% of your grade for the semester: this is the difference between an A and B! ........... Literature Evaluation Table ( Topic type 2 Diabetes)

In nursing practice, accurate identification and application of research is essential to achieving successful outcomes. The ability to articulate research data and summarize relevant content supports the student's ability to further develop and synthesize the assignments that constitute the components of the capstone project.

The assignment will be used to develop a written implementation plan.

For this assignment, provide a synopsis of the review of the research literature. Using the "Literature Evaluation Table," determine the level and strength of the evidence for each of the eight research articles you have selected. The articles should be current (within the last 5 years) and closely relate to the PICOT question developed earlier in this course. The articles may include quantitative research, descriptive analyses, longitudinal studies, or meta-analysis articles. A systematic review may be used to provide background information for the purpose or problem identified in the proposed capstone project.

While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and in-text citations and references should be presented using APA documentation guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.
Assignment 2: Journal Article Critique

Due Date: After you have completed Unit 8

Expectation: 625-700 words (not including title page and references), based on a template, using APA Style.
Instructions

You are required to complete a journal article critique based on an article in the list below. This assignment is designed to help you read a research article correctly and efficiently, and to practice using APA Style. These skills will be valuable in completing the research paper later in the course. This assignment follows the same format as Assignment 1, but you will choose from a different set of articles.

You are required to follow the Journal Article Critique Template provided, which includes the headings required, the questions that you must address, and formatting instructions. Your report must be in narrative (paragraph) form.

NOTE: The critique must be an original work: that is, not copied from someone else, and not used in this course in a previous registration or in any other course taken at Athabasca University or elsewhere. Otherwise, this constitutes plagiarism and academic misconduct.

You will not be permitted to re-write your journal article critique, so please follow the instructions carefully. Weiten and McCann (2013) give an excellent introduction to journal articles and to APA Style in Chapter 2, pages 77-78.
Articles

For this assignment, you must choose one of the following articles:

Kellogg, R. L. (1980). Sherlock Holmes and the educational process. Teaching of Psychology, 7(1), 41-44. doi:10.1207/s15328023top0701_11

Quantitative Research

Write a fully developed and detailed APA essay addressing each of the following points/questions. There is no required word count; be sure to completely answer all the questions for each question in detail. Separate each section in your paper with a clear heading that allows your professor to know which bullet you are addressing in that section of your paper. Support your ideas with at least one (1) source using citations in your essay. Make sure to cite using the APA writing style for the essay. The cover page and reference page are required. Review the rubric criteria for this assignment.
Conduct a literature search to select a quantitative research study related to the problem identified in Module 1 and conduct an initial critical appraisal. Respond to the overview questions for the critical appraisal of quantitative studies, including:
• Is this quantitative research report a case study, case-control study, cohort study, randomized control trial, or systematic review?
• Where does the study fall in the hierarchy of evidence in terms of reliability and risk of bias?
• Why was the study done? (Define the problem and purpose.)
• Were the steps of the study clearly identified?
• What was the sample size?
• Are the measurements of major variables reliable and valid? Explain.
• How were the data analyzed?
• Were there any untoward events during the conduct of the study?
• How do the results fit with previous research in the area? (This may be reflected in the literature review.)
• What does this research mean to clinical practice?
Additionally, be sure to include the rapid appraisal questions for the specific research design of the quantitative study that you have chosen. These can be found in Chapter 5 of the textbook (Melnyk and Fineout-Overholt, 2015).
◆Why was the study done?
◆ What is the sample size?
◆ Are the measurements of major variables valid and reliable?
◆ How were the data analyzed?
◆ Were there any untoward events during the conduct of the study?
◆ How do the results fit with previous research in the area?
◆ What does this research mean for clinical practice?

PHIL200 Week 3 - Proposal

Description: This assignment is a proposal for the Week 6 Final Paper with an annotated "bibliography."

This proposal should include an ethical topic that you will critique with one of our main ethical theories (see below). The proposal and annotated bibliography together should be about 250 words - see example below. The bibliography should include a list of a minimum of three academic resources you will use to begin your research on the topic. One of them can be an encyclopedia article ( Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy or Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy) One should be an academically, peer-reviewed journal article from the APUS online library (See the Philosophy Program Guide for links to many helpful resources. One can be from an credible internet resource such as Crash Course videos or other scholarly, video resource. Depending on the topic, you may use websites or other credible online resources (NO Wikipedia). What will be the best resource will depend on your topic.

These resources will form your beginning References (or Works Cited). The bibliography should be annotated, which means that you should explain in one or two sentences why each resource is helpful and how you plan to use it. The proposal should be in be formatted according to the adopted style used in your program (APA, MLA, Turabian, et cetera). [i.e. cover page, proper header, etc ]

Example of annotated bibliography in MLA formatting:

Green, Hank. "Aristotle & Virtue Theory: Crash Course Philosophy # 38." Crash Course 5 Dec, 2016. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrvtOWEXDIQ&t=51s Accessed 26 Nov, 2019.

This video will be used to provide a background understanding of Aristotle's virtue theory and how to apply the golden mean to various virtues.

For this assignment, match one of the following ethical theories from Western Civilization with a contemporary topic of your choice. When considering a contemporary topic, think about current events, some ethical issue you are passionate about, or an ethical issue you know a lot about, or perhaps even encounter in your professional or personal life. If you have questions regarding selecting an issue please ask your Instructor for guidance. If you are stumped on a topic, here is a good website with dozens of topics and cases. If you have writing questions, please see the University Writing Center.

For example: Say you want to look at climate change. To do this properly, you would need to evaluate it through the lens of one or more ethical theory. Possible thesis statement: "I will first examine Aristotle's Virtue Theory and explore his golden mean for establishing what constitutes a virtuous action. Then, I will use this information to address the need to do more concerning climate change. Specifically, I will discuss three virtues - modesty, temperance and magnanimity - as virtues that lead us to respect and work to save the planet."

When considering what ethical theory to apply to that topic, here is a short list, but it can be expanded in conjunction with your Instructor's approval.

Aristotelian Virtue Ethics
Immanuel Kant's Deontological Ethics
Jeremy Bentham/John Stuart Mill's Utilitarianism
Social Contract Theory
Divine Command Theory Or Natural Law Theory
John Rawls' Theory of Justice
Ethical Egoism (not psychological egoism)
Evolutionary Morality
Care Ethics
Ethical Relativism
Prima Facie Duties (W. D. Ross)
